A StartUp Guide
31st March, 2018
09:00 am
Government Law College's Entrepreneurship and Leadereship Cell is about the pursuit of values and the spirit required for entrepreneurship and leadership – of pushing boundaries, of grit, sacrifice, ambition, and passion, of creating something bigger than oneself – about a legacy, by leaving “footprints on the sands of time”. In this spirit, we announce our inaugural StartUp Fest, which will feature the following sessions:
[1] An entrepreneur's journey:
Ideas are a dime a dozen, executing them successfully is an entirely different ball game. An entrepreneur's journey will detail the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, along with the story of the preparation, sweat and blood that went into it from someone who has walked that path before.
[2] Actualising an Idea
This session will talk about the essence of business: how to convert an idea into an enterprise.
[3] What do Investors Look For?
Got a plan? Great! Do others think it's great as well? This discussion, panelled by a former banker and start-up mentor, and a lawyer who works with VCs will talk about what VCs look for in an idea and the factors that they feel will make it a sucess or failure.
[4] Lawyers and Start-ups: A Symbiotic Relationship
Okay, so finally starting out? Have you got your approvals in place? Have you safeguarded yourself against the people you do business with? Will someone be able to steal your idea and get away with it? A niche session on how lawyers can facilitate the growth and safety of start-up businesses.
[5] Law and Beyond: A Panel Discussion
An eminent panel of people who have graduated in Law and went on to do other things, will talk about how the skills they learned can be translated to other jobs, and of broadening one's horizons beyond the subject one graduated in.
